In May 2012, out in field just south of Stony Point, I scratched my first Virginian horse. I was down from New England on a whirlwind mission to acquaint myself with Virginia in hopes of finding a new home base. Then, I met Jenni Johnson and her beloved filly, JC Andalusians' Plumona. Whom I scratched. And fell in love with—along with Jenni, Virginia, and the whole fabulous shebang. And so I moved here three months later.
This week, I reunited with that filly from the field south of Stony Point. Beautiful Mona, all grown up, still just a little warm after Jenni's second (!) ride on her. I gave that first Virginian horse I ever scratched a proper massage, and hoped Jenni didn't see me getting too sentimental about the whole thing as we caught up on recent months.
Life. Some little part of mine came full circle this week, and that's pretty cool.
